Small press anthology full of newbies: always a crapshoot. On the spectrum, this second group book from the UK's
Nice collective is still close to the starter end. The writing is clever but often outpaces the art.
Standouts include Andrew Salmond's "Kaiju Eiga of Innocence", a giant monster romance tale (illustrated by Hercules, who may be the breakout talent here); the second part of "Earl the Snapshot King" by Canada's K. Draw (featuring a manic little simp with a
levitating hat); and "The Revisionist History Of The World, Part One" by Nathaniel Metcalfe, which describes the creation of the Riesen chocolate bar by Charles Darwin.
However, the scribbly "Dr. Assassin" pages and the in-joke stories bring the average down. Well, the next one might be the world-beater, so note the
Nice group in your mental Rolodex as "to-watch" and let's move on.
