Remember when as a kid you drew your own superhero comic? You probably created some quirky villains, simple plots and I bet the drawings were, well, not too good. But I bet if you come across one of those comics today in your attic, you’ll get a chuckle out of them. You’ll get that same nostalgic feeling reading Jeffrey Brown’s new superhero spoof. He fights criminals named Racecar, the Puncher and Powerbroker, and is usually able to defeat them with a whopping punch or he simply outwits them. (How does he beat Tsunami, who causes massive floods? Easily: He uses a sponge to soak him up!) Brown also spoofs comic clichés like superhero crossovers (He teams with colleagues such as Laser Beam and Fantastico to tackle Train Wreck and Shot Glass), origin issues and, of course, love interests. And what superhero wouldn’t do his civic duty to speak out against drug use? There’s a laugh on every page.
