"Yeah, It Is!" at Serializer) Review by Mark Campos Technically, this book is fascinating: printed in a muted palette of whites and browns on black backgrounds. Was this printed using opaque inks on black paper – which is very hard to do - or did the printers flood the black on every page? It's nice work. The virtuoso printing job, funded by a Xeric Foundation grant, sort of overshadows the story told by Leslie in these pages, a coming of age story in which not much of much happens. Leslie's young protagonist feels out of place, her best friend moves away, she hangs out at the coffee shop, an older man gets her drunk, she gets a psychic reading. It's not very deep, but the art is charismatic, filled with sly satiric notes (a poseur in the coffee house leans on two books: a volume of Bukowski and "Writing 4 Dummies").
